GerberScope

Last updated: 14 August 2026 · Applies to the GerberScope Android application (com.noctrodex.gerberscope) · NOCTRODEX (OPC) PRIVATE LIMITED

The short version

GerberScope collects nothing, transmits nothing, and has no network access. This is not a promise about how we behave — it is a property of how the app is built. The application declares no INTERNET permission, so the Android operating system will not permit it to open a network connection at all. Your design files cannot leave your device, because the app has no means of sending them.

Data we collect

None. Specifically, GerberScope does not collect, store, transmit or share:

  • Personal information of any kind — no name, email address, phone number or account
  • Your design files, or any part of their contents
  • Location data
  • Device identifiers, including the Android advertising ID
  • Usage analytics, crash telemetry or diagnostics
  • Contacts, photos, messages, calendar entries or any other app's data

There are no user accounts and no sign-in. The app contains no advertising, no analytics library and no third-party tracking software of any kind.

How your files are handled

When you open a fabrication package, Android's document picker grants GerberScope permission to read that one file. The app copies it into its own private cache directory, parses it in memory to render the board, and deletes the cached copy as soon as parsing finishes. Nothing is uploaded, indexed or retained beyond that.

The app keeps a short list of recently opened packages so you can reopen them. This list stores only a file reference and its display name, in the app's private storage on your device. It is never transmitted. Clearing the app's data, or uninstalling it, removes the list entirely.

Files the app writes

The only file GerberScope creates is a PNG image of your board, and only when you explicitly tap the export button. It is saved to your device's own Pictures collection, under Pictures/GerberScope, where it belongs to you like any other photo. The app does not read your existing photos.

Permissions

GerberScope requests no runtime permissions. It does not ask for storage, camera, location, contacts or any other permission, and it will never prompt you for one. File access happens only through Android's document picker, which grants access to the single file you choose.

Children

GerberScope is a professional engineering tool and is not directed at children. As it collects no data at all, it collects no data from children.

Changes to this policy

If a future version of GerberScope ever changed what it does with your data, this policy would be updated before that version was published, and the change would be described in the app's release notes. The date at the top of this page reflects the current version.
